At Bicycle Fit Works, we do not have a special formula or hidden technique that is used. As a bicycle fitter, we listen to you and determine your body's strengths and weaknesses. This guides us to build an advantageous connection that will better your relationship with your bicycle. No matter how you look at it, a bicycle fit works. Here are just a few testimonials to share with you.

I am almost 50 years old and have been riding recreationally for about 15 years. My latest bike was fit the
traditional way: I’m 5 ft 10 in so I should fit a 56 cm top tube. This may be true but I always wondered if
some of my minor aches and pains could be from poor fit. I have arthritis in my neck and I suffer greatly
after a long ride with stiffness in my neck and shoulders and numb hands. I attended Bicycle Fit Works
and was thoroughly impressed with the equipment. The computerized Guru DFU was set to the exact
measurements of my current bike and as I rode, it displayed my pedal stroke efficiency and power output
on video displays. With adjustments to the bike from Rob’s experience he has gained throughout his
hundreds of fits, the fit bike automatically moved into different positions. I could instantly see my pedal
stroke and power output improve. Once I was satisfied with my new position these measurements were
transferred to my bike. I have ridden in my new position about 2 weeks now and at first I could really
feel the difference, as if I was reaching for the pedals. I no longer feel the stiffness in my neck as I have
more weight on my saddle and not on my hands.
I am not a racer nor will I be but I do enjoy riding as much as life allows me to. This is a tool that has
definitely made my rides and recovery better. I would highly recommend speaking to Rob before buying
a new bike or for tweaking your existing bike.

To Bicycle Fit Works
I have been an avid cyclist for more than 35 years, largely a road rider and weekend warrior. When you are younger you are able to adapt and overcome or rather ignore anatomical and physiological problems. As time goes on the ravages of time surface and discomfort and poor performance becomes more obvious. This leads to searching for solutions and this in turn leads to the hope of solutions coming from modifications such as fitting. I think I have seen just about every fitting system available.
The average rider can usually do well with the old tried and true and make minor adjustments based on perceived improvements or discomfort. The tried and true appear have developed over many years for the "average rider". Although there are many "average" cyclists there are just as many who are no longer average or not average in the first place. So where does a static and dynamic fitting system play a role? It is ideal for an elite cyclist especially combined with using VO2 max and watt meter. Repeated testing will demonstrate measurable improvement by fitting. The only thing missing would be a wind tunnel. For the not average, the impaired or the person who is not anatomically perfect, the Retul offers the opportunity to see how the cyclist functions in real time and allows for accurate comparison when adjustments to the bicycle are made. It clearly shows hip, knee and back motion while cycling.
In my case the solution to my problem I had was not intuitive by the traditional fitting method but apparent on the computer. Some minor adjustments made a difference. I am not "cured" but better and at 66 enjoy frustrating the lycra crowd. In summary if you use the traditional systems and have no problems and satisfied with your performance it is unlikely that the expense of using the system is worth it. If you have problems on the bike owing to discomfort or perceived poor performance, you may benefit from the system. To me the real strength of the system is for the elite athlete who makes adjustments based on improvements in measured performance.
